Caddo Lake is a really, really unique lake. It sits on the Louisiana-Texas state line

This state park is on the Texas side, so it's run by Texas Parks and Wildlife

It's a really cool area. Right now we're visiting in the fall, so a lot of the leaves have fallen

It's not as green as it usually is because this place is wildly green in the spring and summertime

There are only about 60 sites, maybe 62, 65 campsites, something like that

But you can expect the typical state park kind of setup. You're going to have some sites, a minority, that are going to be full hookups, big sites, big pads, level pads

Those are for your big rigs. You've got a lot of sites that are partial hookups

It's going to be water and electric. And then you have plenty of tent sites

There are even cabins. There's like screened-in cabins where you kind of have to bring your own bed maybe

And then there's full-on like log cabins, cool-looking log cabins. There's not many of them, but they look pretty cool too

This is one of the few state parks with cabin rentals inside the park

There's some really great hiking. There's a mile and a half loop that kind of goes through one side of the park

It's like hilly ravines. It's through the woods. Looks awesome. Haven't done it yet, but it looks really cool

There's some docks for viewing wildlife. For terrain, it is heavily wooded, which means it's heavily shaded

A lot of pine trees closer to the water. A lot of cypress trees

And then mixed in like hardwoods and sweetgum trees and hawthorns and stuff like that

There's a boat ramp. If you're camping here, you can launch for free. There's some day-use areas on the water. You know, little picnic areas. Limited, but very scenic

And I'll tell you what, if you're the type that likes to camp and kayak, this place is awesome

Because Caddo Lake, as you'll see in our spotlight on Caddo Lake, is great for kayaking

Wildlife, recreation, fishing, whatever you like to do on the water, if you're a kayaker, this is the place to camp for sure

If you have kids, or if you just want to get away, this is one of the most unique, remarkable places to camp in the entire area
