Fishing Report from TPWD (Feb. 22)

GOOD. Water normal stain; 38-41 degrees; 0.64 feet below pool. Striped bass are good drifting flukes in the river channels near the Red River and Washita River mouths. Look for bigger fish on big swimbaits around creek channels and the backs of creeks in 8-25 feet of water on structure. Catfish are slow anchored and drifting cut gizzard shad in 50-65 feet of water. Fish are full and not feeding well, look for bigger fish to be in the muddy water near the rivers in 10-15 feet of water. Crappie are moving shallow with the warmer weather. Fish creeks 5-10 feet of water using jigs and minnows. Deeper fish are still not as cooperative with the electronics but these warmer days will change that this week. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are fair on soft plastic fishing structure in 5-12 feet of water near creeks and stumps. Look for them to move shallow in numbers with this warmer weather. Report by Jacob Orr, Guaranteed Guide Service Lake Texoma. Striped bass continue to gorge on bait, looking like little butter balls. Fish are in 10-30 feet of water on structure or in the open water on Sassy shad or an Alabama rig. With the full moon fish may feed at night which can slow the bite. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
