Hey everybody, it's Simon from LakeHub. Today we're doing a lake feature and we're at Lake
0:05
Ray Hubbard just east of Dallas, Texas. So Lake Ray Hubbard is about 22,000 acres and
0:10
it has over 100 miles of shoreline. What makes Ray Hubbard really unique is all of the boat
0:17
up shop and dining options that there are because of its proximity to the city. So it's
0:22
located due east of Dallas right off of I-30. You can see the interstate right behind me
0:27
here. I'm on the Rockwell side, so I'm opposite of Dallas. And I'm going to turn around here
0:32
so you can see. This is such a great area. There's tons of shopping. There's like pretty
0:38
much a mall right here. Tons of shopping. There's plenty of places to eat, bars and
0:43
stuff like that. There's live music out here in this pavilion right on the water. Cool
0:49
lighthouse. I mean that's an unmistakable icon right here of Lake Ray Hubbard. Plenty
0:53
of boat slips and stuff. So this is where all the community events happen. So Lake Ray
0:59
Hubbard is technically owned by the city of Dallas, which is interesting. Of course it
1:03
was impounded to be a water source for the area. And originally it was going to be called
1:08
Lake Forney, but then it was renamed Lake Ray Hubbard after the chairman of the board
1:14
of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. Interestingly enough. Today it's pretty windy
1:19
You can see how windy it is today. I'm surprised there aren't more sailboats because when
1:23
it's this windy, this is a good sailboat lake. It's pretty much great for everything
1:28
It's good for cruising. It's good for sailing. It's great for water sports and fishing too
1:36
It's not known as an amazing fishing lake, but it's a great lake to fish. It's fun to
1:42
get out there and fish. If you've ever gone through Dallas on I-30, you can't mistake
1:48
Lake Ray Hubbard. I mean, you take this long, long bridge all the way across the lake. It
1:54
splits the lake in two. And so there's kind of these different huge areas and there's
2:00
a lot going on here. There are some developments in the works for cool resorts, you know, with
2:07
like wave pools and all kinds of stuff going on. So there's always a lot of activity here
2:12
and there's more than ever out on Lake Ray Hubbard. We love our lakes and we certainly
2:20
love this one. Get out there and enjoy Lake Ray Hubbard
