What's up everybody? It's Simon from LakeHub. It is Tuesday, March 22, 2022, and I'm bringing
0:06
you a largemouth bass spawn report for Oklahoma and Texas. So with the kind of funky winter
0:13
we had, it's a little bit later in the year, Easter's still a little ways off, and we just
0:20
had a full moon, temperatures are starting to warm up, and so we reached out to several
0:26
of our pro guides across several lakes spanning north to south, and so we'll kind of work
0:32
through those reports. These reports are less than 24 hours old, and so this is fresh, hot
0:38
data. The first report is from Grand Lake of the Cherokee in northeastern Oklahoma
0:44
courtesy of Chance Davis, Davis Guide Service, and he's saying that the fish are hanging
0:51
out in like 15 feet of water. They have not moved to the shallows yet. They're kind of
0:55
staging, they're feeding, preparing for the spawn, but they're not quite in pre-spawn yet
1:01
The water's cold. It's just barely into the 50s, and so we need some warm weather and
1:07
some sunshine, and then the water temps will raise up, fish will start moving in the shallows
1:12
but they have not started moving yet. Regardless, this is a fantastic time to fish. Again, fish
1:20
15 feet, 20 feet of water, and those fish are going to be aggressive right now preparing for
1:26
the spawn. So if you're hitting up Grand Lake, that's what you need to look for. Grand Lake
1:31
sits on the 36th latitude, so if you have a home lake that's kind of in the same region
1:37
you can probably expect very similar results at the same time. Next up, we have Lake Fork. Now
1:43
this report comes from Alex Guthrie of Flyfish Fork, and he's saying that small males are moving
1:51
into the shallows. They're starting to nest in the smaller lakes surrounding Lake Fork in East
1:55
Texas, but on Fork, they're not building their nests yet. Again, the small ones are moving to
2:02
the shallows. Bigger males and the big gals are soon to follow, but right now, we're kind of in
2:08
transition. You can call it pre-spawn, and that's what to expect on Lake Fork. Now, if you are
2:15
fishing, again, some of the smaller lakes in East Texas, smaller bodies of water are going to warm
2:20
up faster, and so you can see that the kind of curve of activity is going to be a little bit
2:26
ahead of Lake Fork. Fork sits at the 32nd latitude, so if that's where you are, then you can kind of
2:34
expect that, especially, you know, if you're in the south. Next up is Cedar Creek Lake in East Texas
2:41
kind of right on the edge of the prairie land in East Texas, southeast of Dallas. Again, 32nd
2:48
latitude, a little bit south, a little bit west of Lake Fork, and this report comes to us thanks to
2:55
Justin of Dallas Fishing Charters. He's saying that the water is in the mid to high 50s, and once
3:03
we push 60, then it's on. So, fish are going to, again, it's going to be, we're going, we're working
3:09
north to south here in these lakes, and so you're gonna, you're gonna see more and more activity as
3:14
we work our way south. So, expect the action to be on pretty soon here, especially if we get a few
3:22
days of sunshine. Looks like weather's gonna be warm this weekend, and so after that, I mean, man, it's
3:29
gonna be on at Cedar Creek Lake, and in super shallow, one foot to five feet, one feet to six feet
3:36
kind of range for sight fishing. Again, the spawn's challenging. It's its own unique thing, but it gives
3:43
you the chance to sight fish. Now, he is reporting that the water is very stained right now, and so
3:49
the clarity is not really there, but at least that gives you a sense for the activity. Look for
3:56
structure, look for docks, look for pilings, rocky points, things like that, shallow water in the
4:02
upcoming weeks. Moving on down to latitude 30, Austin, Texas, in Lake Travis. This report comes to us
4:10
thanks to Tyler Torwick of Torwick's Guiding Service, and Tyler's reporting that the water is close to 60
4:17
Fish are moving into the shallows. They are building nests actively, and so what to look for? Look for
4:26
coves that are sheltered from the wind, out of the wind, out of the boat traffic, and just, he's
4:34
recommending polarized glasses, which I recommend across the board here, especially if you're
4:39
sight fishing. You know, sneak sight as best you can. Don't bump the shore, and just work it. Just
4:48
troll up and down the shorelines, and so Lake Travis is just about to hit like full-on spawn
4:56
activity, and that's what you can expect for the lower lakes that obviously are just going to be
5:02
warmer year-round, 30th latitude, and so pretty much across the southern United States. That's
5:11
what you can expect for right now, this week. Special thanks to all the guides who contributed
5:17
I'm going to put links down below to each of the lakes and each of the guides who contributed
