What's up everybody? It's Simon from Lakeub. I'm here to share with you the best rifle scope that I found for under 200 bucks

The Vortex Crossfire 2. I've been using this scope for about four seasons now
0:18
I've put six deer in the freezer looking through this very scope. This is not a sponsored video. I am just a big fan of Vortex after using their product for
0:29
four years and dealing with the customer service a little bit, calling them, asking them and
0:35
questions. I got to tell you guys, this is a great company. This is the kind of company that you
0:41
wish all companies were like. Vortex is a fantastic company. So I upgraded from a really low-end
0:50
bush now, three to nine zoom by 40 millimeter scope. And so I was just looking for, I was looking for
1:00
glass really I was looking for better glass and I was hoping to upgrade you know
1:05
to size up a little bit from a 40 millimeter downrange lens to 50 millimeter just
1:11
to catch a little bit more light and get some better glass and extend my
1:15
shooting hours a little bit because on my Bushnell scope which was a basic
1:19
scope on a pawn shop rifle really the first 10 15 minutes of daylight the last
1:30
15 minutes daylight It just you really couldn see anything through it So that what I was really looking to do That was my main mission And I a Nikon guy I used Nikon cameras I have Nikon binoculars
1:45
So my intent was to go by a Nikon scope. I trust Nikon. They have good optics
1:53
I was convinced by the salesperson to try a vortex. He had me actually look through a couple different scopes
2:04
and said for the money and the warranty, there isn't a better scope for an entry level kind of price range
2:13
So I went for it. And now that I've been using it for a couple years, I've got to say he is right
2:19
I've never had to use the warranty, but it does have a lifetime warranty, which is incredible
2:24
No questions asked, you drop it, you whatever. You send it in
2:29
They'll send you a new one. I've talked to people who have actually used that
2:33
I have not used it myself, but that is pretty impressive. I got to tell you
2:39
Now, going from 40 to 50 millimeters for the downrange lens, which is this one right here
2:47
that was a really, really good move for me. So if you think about doing that, I'd really recommend it
2:54
The only thing that would stop you is the clearance between the scope and the top of your rifle
3:01
So it depends on your setup. It depends on your, you know, scope rings and your mounts and all that kind of stuff
3:07
You're mounting rails. It just depends on what your setup is. If you can do it, do it
3:13
That made a big difference for me So this is a three to nine by 50 This is the Crossfire two They come in you know several different flavors I just have the plain old old school crosshairs in it
3:26
And so three to nine means the zoom power. So you can change that with this ring right here
3:33
There we go. And I just keep it on nine. Really anything inside of 100 yards
3:41
Maybe you want to back out a little bit. but 100 yards and longer, 9 power's fine
3:49
I sighted in at 9, and that works out for me. And so I don't really use the zoom, but it's nice to half
3:59
And 3 to 9 is a really kind of standard zoom power anyway
4:04
So depending on the details, the scope's going to be under 200 bucks no matter which way you cut it
4:10
You can actually find it a lot less, and I'll put a link. down below for the best price on this version right here. As far as mounting it goes
4:22
I have mine mounted on my old trusty Winchester Model 70. I had it done at the store
4:29
but if you buy it online, my local rifle range actually does mounting and borsighting for
4:37
like 10 or 12 bucks, something like that, 12 bucks I think it is. And that will get you to where
4:43
you can start out at 25 yards make sure you're on paper you'll be on paper if you're
4:48
boresighted and get it dialed in at 25 move up to 50 get it dialed in at 50 and then you know you be on paper at 100 And then that where you do your final kind of dialing in You follow the ballistics on your ammo
5:04
On the back, there will be a chart. And it'll tell you where it's going to be zeroed because these are kind of pointed towards each other
5:15
but they're going to cross at some point, meaning the trajectory of the bullet
5:22
and then your line of sight. They're going to intersect and then beyond that
5:28
the bullet is going to start dropping due to gravity. So there'll be ballistics on the back of your ammo box
5:35
and just make sure that you hunt with whatever you sight in it
5:40
and you'll be good to go. So usually you'll be somewhere zeroed around 200 yards
5:45
So if you don't have a 200 yard range, you look at whatever it has for 100 yards
5:48
and you'll probably be a couple inches high. And that's pretty common
5:53
And if you're a couple inches high, but centered left and right at 100 yards
5:59
then you, my friend, you are good to go. So if you're looking to upgrade your optics for under 200 bucks, well under 200 bucks
6:09
I cannot recommend Vortex enough. I am now a super fan. Again, this is not sponsored content
6:18
They are just a really, really great brand. making really great products at really great prices with wonderful customer service
6:28
I wish every company was like Vortex. Go out, hit the fields, have you some fun
