Oklahoma Open Up & Recover Safely Plan for Outdoor Recreational Facilities

Oklahoma Open Up & Recover Safely Plan for Outdoor Recreational Facilities

As Oklahoma is moving forward during the COVID-19 pandemic, they are allowing the opening of outdoor recreational facilities. Across the state, nature parks, zoos, gardens, play areas, horse riding stables, mini golf locations, shooting ranges, and marina are allowed to re-open. The opening of sites began on April 24, 2020.

Strict Sanitation Protocols

Each opening location must adhere to a strict sanitation protocol and use social distancing guidelines. Employees will have temperature checks to check for temperatures before working each day.

Also, rental equipment must be cleaned and sanitized before and after each use. This will improve the health of visitors to each location. Handwashing facilities are also available to customers. Visitors will be informed of limited access areas on site.

Continue to Maintain Social Distancing Practices

Visitors to the outdoor recreation facilities should continue to maintain the proper social distancing practices. Keeping a space of six feet between persons still holds to be the standard.

Events that gather people in small places may still be postponed for a time within the state. Petting zoos are to remain closed at this time but will be allowed to open during later phases of the Oklahoma Open Up & Recover Safely Plan.

Restaurant Locations Opening

Restaurants across the state began re-opening on May 1. Many dining establishments are taking extra precautions to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. For some, this will include only allowing seating at every other dining table. Restaurants are also following strict sanitization and disinfecting guidelines as provided by the state of Oklahoma.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

GOOD. Water normal stain; 63 degrees; 1.32 feet below pool. Striped bass fishing is great on live shad in 30-40 feet of water on main lake points and ledges. Top waters working early around rocky banks, be on the lookout for white birds on the banks early. It will only get better as the striper finish their spawn and the shad start theirs. Crappie fishing is good on brush piles using jigs in 14-18 feet of water. Electronics help locate active fish roaming and sticking the brush. Monkeys milk and mo glo colors working the best. Bass fishing is good on top waters early and swim baits off the banks late morning. Live shad producing numbers and big spawned out fish along the bluffs. Catfish are fair on cut shad and prepared baits anchored in 40-50 feet of water in creek channels and near ledges. Look along the rocks for blues and channels spawning and looking for shad. Report by Jacob Orr, Guaranteed Guide Service Lake Texoma. Hybrid stripers are good on topwater along the bank early in the morning. Watch for egrets and seagulls. Then switch to sassy shad 4 inch glo on flats and points in 10-20 feet of water. Shad continue to spawn. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
