Golf for the Dogs

Hello!
We are reaching out to our community to request sponsors in a Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting the Animal Refuge Foundation (ARFhouse) hosted at Tanglewood Resort & Conference Center on June 25th.

ARFhouse (Animal Refuge Foundation) is a no-kill, care-for-life canine sanctuary, caring for 350 dogs at any given time. Located on 45 acres in North Texas, ARFhouse provides plenty of space for all its residents to live and play, and hopefully find their forever homes. ARFhouse is a Texas non-profit corporation and received the 501(c)3 determination letter from the IRS in 1992.

Being in a rural area has advantages; the dogs have plenty of space; even those in yards, since the yards are big. Many of them get to swim in the pond. Also, we never get complaints about barking. The downside has been that it took several years for people to learn about our facility and begin to contact us to adopt a dog. Adopters frequently drive the 70 miles from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area when they see a dog on PetFinder they want. As we've become more visible, many contributors now come to us for a dog. With help from our volunteers and our relationship with PetSmart, we are able to place 5-10 dogs monthly through our adoption program. When one dog is adopted, there is always one waiting to take his/her place here at ARFhouse. Hangin' out by the swimming hole with a few friends.

ARFhouse accepts some surrendered animals, but we must reserve most of our precious space for the abandoned and abused dogs who come to us as strays or through the courts when animals are seized because of neglect or abuse. We pride ourselves that we accept the strays, regardless of age or breed. All the dogs are spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated. They receive any medical care that our veterinarian deems necessary. We euthanize only when suffering cannot be alleviated through medical care.

ARFhouse is a 501(c) Non-profit organization and runs strictly of off donations and charitable events. It is the third largest care-for-life, no-kill canine sanctuary in the U.S. with approximately 350 dogs on site. Check out their website http://www.arfhouse.org/ to see some of the amazing things they are accomplishing.

It's easy to help! Check out the EVENT Calendar for links to participate. If we can help you in any way please feel free to contact the event coordinator Deborah Blakeney at [email protected].

Thank you!
Cassie

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 17)

GOOD. Water stained; 84 degrees; 0.28 feet above pool. Striped bass fishing is up and down depending on the temperatures. Warmer days have the fish moving fast and surfacing on top early and late. Live bait and slabs are working on shallow flats and ledges off the main lake in 15-25 feet of water. Crappie are biting jigs or minnows on points with stumps and brush in 12-20 feet of water, or docks and shade in coves. Eater catfish are good on punch bait in 18-28 feet of water on flats and in the backs of ditches. Baited holes are producing numbers. Soon big blue catfish will roam the deep flats chasing big baits. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. Stripers are hit-or-miss with the best bite on topwaters or slabs on flats in 10-20 feet of water or deep in 60 feet of water. Target structure and the ledges of drop-offs. Some anglers are using live bait or trolling. Fish should be moving shallow as the water begins to cool. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
