Predominant Fish Species


A wide number of fish species are located in Lake Texoma. Blue and channel catfish are plenteous as well as white and striped bass. Anglers also fish regularly in the waters of the lake for largemouth bass, smallmouth, and spotted bass. Crappie lovers will access black and white varieties. Bluegill are also bountiful in the waters of the lake.

Terry Harber holds the record for Striped Bass, weighing in 35.12 pounds. Scott Smiley holds the record for reeling in the largest Buffalo Bigmouth record at forty-seven pounds. Amazingly, Cody Mullennix holds the weight record for a Blue Catfish weighing in at one-hundred-twenty-one pounds!

Lake Texoma Fishing Report from TPWD (Jan. 13)

FAIR. Water stained; 49 degrees; 1.13 high. Striped bass are good on slow-moving shad like swim baits and live bait. White bass are fair on slabs and spoons. Largemouth bass are slow fishing soft plastic swimbaits, deep diving crankbaits, bladed spinners, and flutter spoons in 12-25’. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs near boathouses, timber, creek ledges, and brush piles in 15-25’. Catfish are fair on fresh cut bait and punch bait.
