Introducing Bruce's Adoption Update

May 27, 2023:

This evening, Bruce found a home super locally, like right in our neighborhood. with a family who has 1 1/2 acres, a six foot fence, and five children who fell in love with him at first meet. We can visit him anytime we want. Bruce is no longer in a kennel.  All at a Lake Texoma beach!

May 9, 2023:

Bruce came to us in the breed of a great Dane. A lady bought him for his breed, but never cared about his need. A ranch hand I'd say, took to Bruce throughout his working day. Bruce was not allowed...out on the range...Bruce viewed his ranch from his lonely cage. The lady and the hand finally made a brand...new deal.

Bruce is an AKC registered 10-month-old male great Dane. After Bruce's release from his prison, five people are taking care of him in shifts. We cannot offer Bruce a forever home. He is just now learning how to be a puppy. He's a great working breed and so easy to train.

The first dog rescued from that ranch, again with negotiated permission, is a female Belgian malinios whom her daddy calls Bristol. Bristol is introducing Bruce into his lost puppyhood. Bruce goes to the beach to play just about everyday. Someone's always got him. Unfortunately, Bruce has to sleep in a kennel at night.

Bruce was bred to hunt boars originally, but was found to keep up with horses hauling wagons on long cold treks through mountains blanketed in snow and ice over rocks. If you ever hear one thing about great Danes, the one thing you will hear is, "That is the most genteel dog I've ever met!" Great Danes are also fearless!

Bruce needs a forever home. Bruce is not for sale. There are no rehoming fees. All we knew, was if that lady that bought Bruce, was willing to let him go, as a collective, we could schedule a time for Bruce to be the dog he needs to be all day long at the lake.

Bruce never got to be a puppy at first. He is sure learning how now with Belgain Bristol, that canine female temptress! Bruce needs a forever loving home. Bruce is a big responsibility. He is teething, and we need big big bones. Bruce is trying to chew on iron picnic tables.

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 31)

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 2.36 feet below pool. Striped bass are good with bigger fish biting on topwater along the banks in the morning. When the morning bite tapers off, look for pods of threadfin shad midlake. Casting into these pockets of shad with swimbaits will land catches of stripers. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors. Striped bass fishing is great on live shad with fish suspended in 50-65 feet of water around the islands. The shad spawn is still on as well, topwater baits and swimbaits are working early along rocky banks where the egrets are lined up. Crappie are fair on plastic jigs and minnows fishing brush piles in 12-15 feet of water. Use electronics to locate active fish then use a slow lift up to catch. Catfish are fair on cut shad and prepared baits fishing a couple reels up in 50-65 feet of water. Seeing a lot of small blues from the last couple years spawn and the occasional good keeper. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing is good on live shad along the south end of the lake off the bank in 5-10 feet of water on the big boulders. Topwaters early on the rocks are working as well. Report by Jacob Orr Lake Texoma Guaranteed Guide Service.
