Grayson College Hosts Chair as an Art Form Exhibit

Chairs As An Art Form is not your normal art exhibit. The Chair Exhibit is very different from other shows hosted by the 2nd Floor Gallery. In fact, it isn't like other chair shows where the art is more decorative.

The artists in the show have really thought out the possibilities for chairs as art forms. The art isn't hanging on a gallery wall, but staged on wooden pallets which creates a unique look to the Exhibit. Wooden pallets were provided by Pallet and Crating Company of Denison.

The Chair as an Art Form exhibit features 26 works of art by 16 artists including Donna Finch Adams, Deeya Bains, Steve O. Black, Arlene Cason, Matthew Freeman, Brandon Gabbert, Shelley Tate Garner, Lynn Karam, Mary Karam, Christian McGowan, Nitia Musico, Michael Musico, Jerome Noel, Mary Rixen, Joey Spindle, and Marie Van Arsdale.

The Exhibit runs from August 20th - September 25th at the 2nd Floor Gallery, located on the 1st floor of the Grayson College Arts & Communication Center, 6101 Grayson Drive, Denison, Texas. An Artist Reception will be held on Satruday, September 6th from 6 - 7:30 pm and is open to the public.

Gallery Hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm and by appointment. For more information on the exhibit or upcoming exhibits and events, contact Steve O. Black at (903) 463-8662 or e-mail [email protected]

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jun. 11)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 10.38 feet above pool. Striper fishing is improving as the lake settles and fish move up in the water column. Fish are suspended in deep water and on shallow humps 15-25 feet of water. Live bait and lures are working on the right day in the right school of fish. Channel catfish are great along rocky banks using punch bait on baited holes in 10-20 feet of water. Blue catfish are in deeper water on dead shad or cut bait suspended above the muddy water near the bottom. Bass fishing will improve as the lake clears up and the fish move to summer patterns with warmer water. Fish flooded brush in the backs of the creeks and near points. Docks and marinas near the south end of the lake will have less murky water. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. Striped bass bite is improving on live bait, with some small fish being caught on artificials in 10-30 feet of water. The fishing improves along with the clarity. A few fish are schooling. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
