Denison Main Street Fall Festival

Downtown Denison is getting ready for a party! The 28th Annual Denison Main Street Fall Festival will be held on Saturday October 3. This year’s festival may be one of the largest Main Street Festivals ever with over 170 vendors! Two Chicks with Paint and a group of volunteers have been working all week to decorate storefronts and street corners with beautiful flowers and fall décor. To add to the festive look, the crosswalks have been painted in a piano key design.

The fun begins at 7 am with a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance at Heritage Park. The day will be jam packed with fun, family friendly activities offering something for everyone. Weather predictions are for a mostly sunny day with temps around 78 degrees, perfect fall weather for a stroll along the historic downtown Denison area in search of fun fair food, arts and crafts booths, games and live entertainment.

Vendors from as far away as Kansas will arrive Friday evening for an early morning set-up as Main Street is blocked off from the 300 thru the 700 blocks for the Festival. Festival goers will browse thru a multitude of arts and crafts booths filled with beautiful, unique, one of a kind items for sale. A vendor from Pecos will have yard art, Mexican pottery plus fresh fruits and vegetables from the Valley. A number of booths will be on hand to satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade fresh baked goods, honey, jams and jellies of all kinds. Of course a fall festival just wouldn’t be complete without a booth selling painted Gourds and this crowd pleasing booth will be back again this year. Several booths will be selling hand crafted jewelry, so you will have plenty of opportunity to get your Bling On!

Lots of activities are planned for youngsters too. The Little Katy Train will be on hand and the Lil Bitty Corral will have pony rides. The Girl Scouts will have games and the Denison Firemen have lots of fun activities planned for kids. They have a traveling safety exhibit that kids really enjoy and how about getting sprayed with a firehose? Now who is having the most fun - the kids or the Firemen? The Carnival from Summertime Amusements will be Friday night, during the festival and Saturday night in the 700 block of Main Street.

In the Food Alley by Heritage Park you will find all your favorite yummy fair food like Smoked Turkey Legs, BBQ, and Sausage on a stick. Looking for something out of the ordinary? Try the Fried Alligator!

The day will be full of live entertainment. On the Demonstration Stage, Dance Explosion, Denison High School Cheerleaders, DHS Stingerettes, Nautilus Zumba and more will be performing all day. On the Main Stage, Fred Spears and Friends will start things off in the morning and perform again from 1 – 3 pm in the afternoon. The DHS Jazz Band will perform at 10 am and the Parkside Praise Choir will take the stage from 11 am – noon. At noon, Fred Spears and Friends will take the stage again and perform until 3 pm. Shwanda Raines Productions will take over at 3 pm with the Stage Struck performers and the Finalist from the Talent Contest performing from 4 – 5 pm.

A drum circle will be held in the street in front of the Radio Vison parking lot from 2:30 – 3:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to join in sharing the rhythm and spirit of the drum circle. Bring your drums, rattles and other instruments (there will be a few on hand). A few chairs will be on hand but to be safe you may want to bring your own.

It will be a fun-filled action packed day in downtown Denison. Come join in the fun!
