Operation Welcome Home

This weekend is Operation Welcome Home, Nov. 9-10, on Lake Texoma when various fishing guides will be giving free fishing trips to soldiers. Anyone who has a boat who can fish and take out soldiers to fish for stripers on lake Texoma is also welcome.

A host of different people from the VFW will welcome the soldiers on Friday. Shirts and caps donated from Reed Cabinet Shop of Amarillo are given to fishermen and guides. Little Mineral Resort and Tanglewood Resort is offering lodging for about 90 soldiers and their families.

VFW Post 7873 will feed the soldiers and assign soldiers to boats. The following morning at Little Mineral Resort the everyone is fed breakfast burritos by the Vietnam Veterans Assn. of Sherman.

Everyone will have a chance to hook a big striper until noon. Afterwards Georgetown Baptist Church provides lunch and service. The day concludes with supper at the Elks Lodge for supper.
