October 1, 2016

Well it seems fall is around the corner, and its been one hellofayear.   I have been busy enough to keep me out of trouble.   I started off the year with great results each trip, but some trips being tough, and some unbeleiveable.  That is fishing kind sirs.  I am still satisfied with the service I get from Little Mineral Resort, as boathouse 14, is one of the best set up, better than most.   It does not look that great as we took some tin off the sides because of recent high winds and water.  I have a clean cleaning station, music, air, and a spot that the catfish love, when I throw few cleaning of stripers in the water.   I have fished almost every day, always every weekend, although since I am a retired railroad man, I take it as it comes.   I keep my boat clean, and well serviced, and the 1999 Triton, has lasted well, and takes the water fine.  Oh come on, talk a little fishing.   I troll most of the time and target mostly big fish, fish in the range of 5-15 pounds.  I feel I am know lakewise, as one of the best large fish guides on the lake.   I have won 90% of the Bud Light Trails, Striper Tournaments, winning my last October 1st.  They gave me a plaque as "Angler of the Year".   Now my interest has changed to work on a soldier fishing trip I organized, Operation-Welcome Home, whereas, I arrange for about 100 wounded warriors, to fish free on a weekend on Lake Texoma.   Numerous guides donate their time and boats to help, and local business (VFW, American Legion, and Elks, Vietnam Veterans Assn.) donate meals during the weekend they are here.  Come join us I you are in the area.   Anyway good fishing.   I am also on FB.   JDDorsey

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 1)

GOOD. Water normal stain; 67 degrees; 0.33 feet below pool. Striped bass fishing is great on top waters early along rocky shorelines and sandy flats around coves. Watch for birds on the banks and fish the direction the birds are moving up and down the rocks. Live bait is still very effective fishing ledges and humps near the river channels in 35-45 feet of water. The shad spawn is on and catching will only get better. Crappie fishing is good near boat docks and on structure also using electronics to locate roaming fish in 12-15 feet of water. Glo and milk are colors of choice with a crappie nibble tip. Seeing females in the creeks 2-5 feet of water as well. Catfishing is getting better on cut shad and prepared baits anchored on ledges in 40-50 feet of water a few reels off the bottom near rocky banks. Slip cork with a cut shad down the bluffs are producing channel cats preparing to spawn as well. Bass fishing is good using top waters early, spooks or closed face glide baits and fish crawl baits later. Fish are roaming near the beds and hitting white chatter baits as well. Live shad down the bluffs are producing numbers with the occasional big fish off the rocks in 5-8 feet of water. Report by Jacob Orr, Guaranteed Guide Service Lake Texoma. Hybrid stripers are excellent with limits coming on topwaters along the bank early in the morning watching for Egrets. Then switch to swimbaits on flats and points in 10-20 feet of water. Shad are spawning along the banks. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
