Lake Texoma Fishing Report - Summer 2017

The Summer of 2017 has been a great fishing season. Only way to describe it, it has been above our expectations. Lots of fish and lots of happy fishers of all ages. We had a few celebrities to top it off. Randy White, NFL Hall of Fame Dallas Cowboy, Jimmy Houston, America’s Favorite Fisherman and Grady Spears famed Cowboy Cook.

Stripers have been good to excellent this week. Plenty of medium size to 2 to 3 pounders are surfacing every morning. You can load up on these fish with PopRs, Chug Bugs and 4 inch Coho soft plastics.
There are some magnum Texoma Sand Bass up to 3 pounds running in these schools.

The bigger stripers are holding on deep structure. Humps and river ledges. Stripers up to 12 pounds are common this week.
Hold on tight, these big ones are producing some vicious strikes and extreme fights! It's a blast!

The schools are beginning to move up on flats.
We vertically bump slabs or cast your soft plastics on the bottom in depths from 5-15 ft.

The stripers can surface anytime on the flats when they push the shad to the surface. Keep your top water rigged rods close and ready.

Now that school is starting, we had the lake to ourselves this week. It’s time to huddle up and plan your Fall fishing adventures. If you are looking for some great fishing, come to Lake Texoma and have some fun.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 9)

FAIR. Water stained; 84 degrees; 1.87 feet above pool. Striped bass fishing is hit and miss but fish are starting to surface on shallow sand flats and in cuts. Top waters and swimbaits are working as well as live bait drifting shallow 10-15 feet of water or anchoring on main lake ledges in 15-25 feet of water. Catfishing remains excellent on punch bait in 25-30 feet of water on humps and main lake points. Bigger blues will be cruising the deeper water drift while gizzard shad or rough fish off of the river channels on flats in 40-55 feet of water. Bass fishing is good on hard baits and reaction baits near docks and the backs of coves early in the mornings and late evenings. Fish main lake points and rock bluffs mid day off the banks. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. Striped bass are good on topwaters in shallow water, switching to slabs as fish move out to 15 feet of water. Water clarity is improved. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
