This is a call to action for a Texomaland food-raising campaign to unite young people, fishing and hunting guides, bird hunting and wildlife viewing rangers, writers and artists, and anyone who can interest a young person in their business as an adventure to join this food-raising effort.
The plan is to teach young people the benefits of giving up valuable time in exchange for a reward like a guided hunting or fishing trip, an afternoon with an artist of any genre, or anyone who would like to give back in the form of interest and mentorship.
The Sherwood Shores of Grayson County Little Free Pantry is spearheading a campaign for young people to collect dry and canned goods for Texomaland Little Free Pantries on their spring break, and to be rewarded with a Lake Texoma adventure in return for their service.
Who Do We Need?
- Young people in communities with Little Free Pantries
- People who own Lake Texoma tourism businesses
- Neighborhood organizers: For the safety of the young people, there needs to be two well-trusted adults to accompany the children on their rewarding adventures
- Storage space for surplus in the Little Free Pantry neighborhood in case this campaign is too successful
What is the Little Free Pantry Movement?
The mini pantry movement activates neighbor engagement with food insecurity. The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowd-sourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors, and nourish neighborhoods. The Little Free Pantries offer dry and canned goods to neighborhoods in small quantities.
