Fishing Report from TPWD (Nov. 6)

GOOD. Water stained; 66 degrees; 1.84 feet below pool. Striper fishing is excellent on live shad and topwaters. Fish are running river ledges in 25-40 feet of water and feeding on points and sand flats. Look for gulls on the main lake and birds on the banks near creeks. Catfishing is also great, with larger fish starting to show up thanks to recent rain and inflow. We’re still seeing good numbers of fish on cut shad in 40-60 feet of water on the main lake. Drift deep flats 30-50 feet of water with whole gizzard shad for bigger fish. Crappie fishing is picking up near docks and on brush. Use jigs tipped with a crappie nibble, using electronics to locate active fish. Crappie are still roaming near structures, with many sitting on the bottom of the brush. Bass fishing will improve with recent rainfall and inflow. Try topwaters and plastics in the backs of coves and creeks in 3-6 feet of water, and hard baits near docks during the day. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Guaranteed Guide Service. Striped bass are excellent on topwaters early or late in the day in shallow water. Follow the birds and cast slabs beneath for limits of fish. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
