The Oklahomans -- a Book Review and Signing -- by John J Dwyer

The unforgettable saga of America's last frontier--the Oklahoma Country. Never has the story of this great land and people been told like John tells it. John J Dwyer, historian, professor and author of "The Oklahomans" will chronicle in his presentation the saga of the winning - and losing - of a land. Some of the most famous cowboys, Indians, lawmen, outlaws, and explorers in American history stride across the pages of this unforgettable story. So do some of the country's greatest entrepreneurs, statesmen, Christian ministers, social pioneers, and athletes.

His book, "The Oklahomans -- The Story of Oklahoma and its People" was commissioned by the Oklahoma Historical Society as an official project of the 2007 Oklahoma Centennial Celebration. The book was further honored by winning both the author and publisher gold medals for Western non-fiction at the fourteenth annual Will Rogers Medallion Award banquet, Saturday night, Oct. 28, 2017, in Fort Worth.

Dwyer is a highly sought after speaker and the Museum of Southern Oklahoma is honored to provide this opportunity for the public to enjoy his presentation. Refreshments provided. Admission is FREE. You will have the opportunity to purchase his book and have it signed! Check out this trailer: https://youtu.be/RaaYAVw97Tg

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 9)

FAIR. Water stained; 84 degrees; 1.87 feet above pool. Striped bass fishing is hit and miss but fish are starting to surface on shallow sand flats and in cuts. Top waters and swimbaits are working as well as live bait drifting shallow 10-15 feet of water or anchoring on main lake ledges in 15-25 feet of water. Catfishing remains excellent on punch bait in 25-30 feet of water on humps and main lake points. Bigger blues will be cruising the deeper water drift while gizzard shad or rough fish off of the river channels on flats in 40-55 feet of water. Bass fishing is good on hard baits and reaction baits near docks and the backs of coves early in the mornings and late evenings. Fish main lake points and rock bluffs mid day off the banks. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. Striped bass are good on topwaters in shallow water, switching to slabs as fish move out to 15 feet of water. Water clarity is improved. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
