May is typically the month the top water action for striped bass on Lake Texoma really starts heating up.
Matt Mauck, south-central fisheries supervisor for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, reports that striper fishing on Lake Texoma has been and continues to be good.
"Shad have been spawning heavily the last few weeks generating some early morning excitement in shallow water," he said. "Both top water and swimbaits have been productive. Bait fishing has also been good.
"The lake is in good shape, and many 14- to 22-inch fish are currently available. It should be a great fishing year."
